Williamstown KY History
Only months after it was officially founded in 1820, the rural community of Williamstown, Kentucky, stood at the epicenter of the United States. It was a microcosm of the cultural and religious pressures that confronted the country after passage of a hotly contested new federal law, the Missouri Compromise, which temporarily resolved a terrible nationwide dispute over the expansion of slavery.
